Not sure if this should be in tech ??????????? it's a bit general an a bit tech ah well here goes

Guys does anyone know of a decent electroplater prefer QLD that can do bumpers that dosen't have Clyde Barrow as a close relation and Bonnie Parker as his freekin girl Friday I,ve been doing a bit off phoning around and have price's of up to 1500 bucks + for a set of towel rails--sheesh --so anyone ???
Also has anyone imported a set( of triple chromed towelers) from the good ole US of A-just wondering about the quality and which mob you got em from ??
Cheers,

I would recommend Rob Mitchell from Chrome Connection (0438 694 626) - he is an ex-chrome plater and now is an 'agent'. He basically picks up your stuff, outsources the work then drops it back to you. The best thing is he guarantees the work - I had all the stuff done on my ragtop resto through rob and only had to send a couple bits back to be redone.

I was super impressed - and yep the bumpers were 'triple chrome plated'.

The costs may have changed since I had mine done (a couple of years ago) - the blades were $240 each and the little over-riders were $60 each.

If you do go through him, let him know I referred you so hopefully he'll look after you.
Here is a pic of the chrome:

Yeah, as Dasdubber said, Rob's been in the game for years.

If he cant help, give Allcrash a call, failing that, try Brisbane Bumper Service, call John there.

The bottom line is, when they are fitted to the car, you can tell they are Harrington bumpers. The towel rails don't have the correct curve to them, and the blades are a bit rippley.
I have not seen a set in the flesh. Only seen pics of owners in the US that have them fitted.
there were TWO different rear towel rail bumpers used in the USA....
the later ones were curved down towards the centre of
the bumper so the squared off engine lid could be opened
approx 1965-66..
