The only difference between fitting late and early is you will have to drill the holes for the rear latches. That later had the holes as standard
Hi,
I just checked out my 64 as I've been thinking of a set of these for a while and there's no hinge screw hole thingos as well as no latch holes , is there a mounting plate that needs welding in or do you go straight to the window surround with self tappers--how did the factory do it ?
Cheers Al .

Hey Al,
For early's you will have to drill the holes for the hinge into the window frame. The screws go through the hinge, then through the frame into the hinge plate. We drilled the holes by merely placing the window up to the car and marking there position, then drilling.

$500+ (I paid $550 about 3 years ago for a good condition pair (not perfect)). Keep an eye out on thesamba as they seem to come up there more frequently.

Early ones are always more expensive than the later ones.

Thanks for that Ash, I have a thought that I've seen some double framed ones where the inner frame is held in by a rubber suround and the opening part actualy screws to the inner frame as well---but I may be thinking of another car completely--I should have been paying more attention,
Cheers , Al .
