Has anyone visited the Flat 4 shop in Tokyo?
Is it worth a look, or is there anywhere else that is worth checking out in Tokyo to take up a morning of car related things? How hard is it to get around to find somewhere like Flat 4, Taxi or train?
I've got a 2 day stop-over in Tokyo on my way home from the US, want to spend one day doing the touristy type stuff in Tokyo just looking around and another doing car stuff.
any help would be great!
send me your email I send you some pix from when I was there...
definately worth a look. His collection of early performance stuff is amazing. Better then anything ive seen in the US so far!!
Its not too far out of the city area, a bit of a walk from the subway station, but worth the trek!

sounds good, thanks for that.

you'd recommend the train? Would a taxi cost too much? I suppose it depends where from, but probably the city centre....approximate time/distance from the city centre??

Man I cant even remember the station or anything, and the addresses are real hard to work out, as they dont just have numbers going up the street Apparently some of it is numbered in the order they were built or something.
But yeh the subway is easy, there is also buses along the road you could use, but you want to make sure you are heading in the right direction!! Every person I asked for help getting there on foot had no idea, including a post man!!
Best bet might be to send them an email, there is one guy there I dont remember his name, but he speaks really good english. The others not so good!
I guess you could ask a taxi how much to get there... I had a friend there that drove me around for most of the time. Didnt use a cab at all...
Ill send you an email...
enjoy it!
where in the US have you been, should have hung around for the classic...
This isn't until September, going on a bit of a business trip, 5 days in LA and 6 days in Vegas. Desperately trying to find some car shows/VW events on in LA or Vegas mid September...then doing the 2 day stop in Tokyo. Sounds like a Taxi might be nice and easy....or maybe not, LOL, depends on cost.
Thanks again!
Anyone else been too?!?!?
Maybe contact Steve M.. Matara
pretty sure he did a post on this
Will do a search
Futue te ipsum!!!
September is quiet, The bugorama in Vegas is Oct7, Bugorama in Sacramento is Sep 2nd.
Hopefully one lines up. There is usually a drag day at Irwindale CA around the first week of Oct.
Go to the Imperial Palace when in Vegas, and ask someone for free passes to the auto collection. They have some awesome stuff in there, always changes too. Plenty of rare Porsche and VW there usually. I was there 2 weeks ago, back again the first week of June with a friend whos coming over for the classic.... its a hard life really....
Dubfest(Irwindale) is on the 9th September, I arrive on the 11th, could have gone earlier and been there on the 9th but couldn't find enough info on Dubfest to make it worth while leaving earlier!
Hi,
I go to Japan quite a bit for work so when you find out where it is let me know.
Narita is where the planes land for Tokyo and it is a good 45 min bus ride or 30 min by train into Tokyo.
The train system in Japan is excellent, so you should not have any troubles there.
Get the address in Japanese Characters if you can and print it off. When you get to Tokyo look for someone in their early twenties as many of that age speak English and would be happy to give you directions.
Japan would have to be one of the best places in the world to visit, it is such a world away from what we know. I recomend you go to Asakusa, there is lots of good traditional shopping and sight seeing in this area. Akihabara is another great place as it is the electronics gadget capital of the world.
Cheers,
Konnichiwa

As Calcool said, print the name off in Japanese and hand it to your doorman - they should speak English too. Ask the doorman to tell the Taxi driver to take you there in Japanese. Worked for me in China.
I have a lot of pix from that trip on my computer... im in Montreal at the moment ill post them when I get home.
Should have some new ones from BugOut in Manassas VA after next weekend too. Then the classic in a few weeks, ill try and post some up. Been slack!
