I've just had the front on my fasty lowered a bit (1 spline). Now the wheel arch is rubbing on the tyre almost constantly, especially with a passenger in the front seat. What wheels/tyres should I be considering? It currently has 185/70 R 14 all round.

The rims you're using are probably the wrong offset!
All the wheels that came on the porsche 914 have a good offset for a type 3!
With the right offset wheel you can fit 195's under a lowered car with no problems..

Thanks for the suggestions. What offset should I be looking for?

I am running 16x7" with no rubbing. They do scrub when the wheel is turned and you hit a big bump. These have 195 - 50 -16 tyres.
Its all about the offset. I have also had the rear end narrowed to get the tyres to tuck under the guards.

C'mon kids gather round,
there's a new sensation hitting town,
It's moving straight, low to the ground,
it'll pick you up when your feeling down.
