Are parts for diesel passats easy to come by?
Steve
depending which diesel motor its got, if its an early passat with the same donk as the golfs and transporters then you shouldnt have any worrys, there are plenty of suppliers in europe who ship to oz and the prices are pretty good as well!
the diesel passat will run on veg oil as well! (very cheap motoring!!)

I agree with vwjon insofar as it depends upon the model. If you are talking about 'older diesels' then just about any country mechanic can work on them and they run on pretty well any oily sludge that you can find (as Rudolf Diesel intended). However, if you are talking about modern diesels then you can run into some traps as they run pressure vessels that operate at 18 000 plus psi (hard to believe I know), as you can imagine this item can be pretty horrific if it goes south. Most modern diesels also run two fuel pumps which are also pretty expensive. All in all turbo diesels are the way to go for stump pulling torque and great economy, however there is a sting in the tail if things start to go wrong.

Depends on what parts you looking for and if it is a early or late model
Early passat parts are very hard to come buy. If its body parts and trim parts ur gonna have a very hard time. When it comes to engine components they are very similar to the mk1 golf(EARLY PASSAT). Because there are alot of them around
