I had stripped my bug for painting, now I have re - hung the panels to drive to the paint shop, Now I have a problem with my indicators and brake lights .

I have wired up the tail lights exactly the same as each other- with the red wire to the top, the black to the right of the center bulb, and the grey to the right, and the brown earth ? to the bottom. It's a '70 bug so no fog or back -up light.

Is this correct or should the black and grey be mirrored from side to side ?

As for the indicators on the fenders, I have the black going into the bulb and the brown as an earth ?

They did work for 4-5 flashes, but now are knackered, the fuse is okay, but there is a buzzing noise coming from the relay so maybe that's kaput ?

The headlamps and the horn, radio and wipers all work, as does the speedo if that helps ?

If anyone has had this problem and can help, then I can fix it and get it painted and back on the road again.

Cheers,

Scott.

the flasher relay will make that buzz if theres no load on it at all
ie both front and rear bulbs are not working for some reason
pull the bulbs out give the bases and the sockets a good clean
and also check that the earth wires are connected ok at the body end as well
