So just put the motor back in my beetle. Never touched beetles so along the way I've somehow f#@$%ed up.
Pushed on the clutch and thought hmmm reasonably heavy clutch.... but whatever. Pump it a few more times, then pedal didn't come back up WTF!!!??!?!?!.
Clutch had a lot of slack in it, reckon the thrust bearings has rotated to some stupid arse angle and jamming up against the pressure plate not allowing it to disengage?
The operating shaft that the clutch cable connects to on the outside has not returned to its start position. Thing is put the car in gear and try and push it and the clutch is engaged??
I'm at a loss, I really can't be bothered taking the engine out just yet, plus its just started raining so really can't be bothered working in the rain either.
your going to have to take the engine out anyway. you wont really know whats happend untill you do take it out,

Is your clutch pedal back up?

The pedal goes back up but its just when I push on the pedal there is no resistance
Cluctch cable? Clutch pedal hook? Release bearing? RB springs in place? RB forks not broken? Pressure plate fingers?

I think VWCOOL just about covered everything!! I'd guess the cable is broken inside the tube. In my experience they normally break at either end so it's easier to notice. Good luck by the way I've just had all that fun with my buggy and shortened cables and Type4 engines to early gearboxes don't make the job any easier😠
I'd suggest spigot bearing, but that would be pretty obvious looking if that had collapsed.
