You may know this already but I was surprised to find that if buying a unregistered car from interstate you can get a "License to drive an unregistered vehicle" from Vic Roads, Qld Roads etc for the bargain price of $22 per day + $65 insurance (3 days). No inspection required.
My brother picked up a S1 RX7 from Brisbane last week, flew up at 6am and had all the paperwork done and was on the road by 10am.
