hi everyone, im just new to the club and i am doing up my 71 beetle and im after any info of where in melbourne i can get the engine lid hinges that make the top pop out and where i can get nice wheels to suit the bug stud pattern.. no one does the wheels....

Often there are decklid standoffs on ebay, or contat VWCOOL for a set of his hoodjax!!!!l👍

Best place to get VW wheels from i've found is Classic Vee Dub in Sydney. Great prices and Shipping is always fantasticly priced too.

Depending on the rims you buy you may or may not need wheel spacers.
Shortly after I brought my 71 I pulled the front wheels off for an optic and a dozen metal washers used as spacers fell out.
A set of 6mm thick one piece spacers brought from my local VW shop designed for the job replaced the bodgy washers and alleviate the tyre touching the strut and lower King Pin tie rod.
I think the mags the previous owner fitted were designed for an earlier Bug?

Also for wheels, if you are after something different to the normally used VW ones, try Canterbury tyre and mag supamart http://www.canterburytyres.com.au/contactus.asp They have quite a few styles that come as blanks and can be drilled to suit. Speedy Wheels are great, they come out and measure your car to make sure their wheels will fit before they drill them.

thats good to know.. i also thought the spacers were illegal..
i know the guy at canterbury tyres so i'll get on to him about getting some rims drilled..
