Good evening all,
I was wondering if anyone else has had a strange leak of water that comes out from under the dashboard steering column onto my lower right leg.
I have a 73 Super bug and the strange thing is I haven't had my car out in the weather since I bought it two weeks ago.
It also only happens running up a step fast road out of Hobart, if anyone has had a similar experience I could use some tips on the cause, in the meantime I'll look into it.

Thanks

Could be water from the windscreen washer. If it's all stock, the system uses the pressure from the spare tyre to pump water on the windscreen via a hose that runs along the steering column where the switch is. If it is this, then the hose would be split. It used to happen to me when I pulled the lever of the windscreen washer and I got a wet leg. Not a lot of fun, but part of the Beetle experience. Don't know why it's happening to you when going up a hill and not using the washer though. 🙂

If your washer bottle isnt hooked up it wont be that.
But RHS - sounds very possible as the indicator is the switch and the water is under pressure up th the switch in the column

can also be the air box under the bonnet

Open the bonnet and see if the bib black cover is rusted (or missing)
If it is water comes in the slots and then falls onto the fuel tank - and runs...............somewhere.

If the cover is ok - there is a drain at the bottom that goes through the car.
If that is cracked/blocked you can get a strange leak as well
Futue te ipsum!!!
