Hi guys,
So I have a '58 Beetle with a lowered king pin front end (at least I think it's a king pin, someone correct me if I'm wrong!).

Anyway, it seems like there's some play in what I think is the kingpin - vertical cylindrical thing. What's the solution to this? I've tried googleing and searching on here but to no avail.

Thanks!

benno

i'm no pro with those kinda systems, but i'm looking up my scientific publications manual.

shouldnt be warn bushes/rubbers causing any issues, as they don't appear to have any through where the kingpins are, However, there are clamp bolts through what is called the torsion arm eyes. There is one per link pin (IE: 2 on each side of the front end) on the torsion arms themselves.

give them a good torque up and take it for a test. they are suppose to clamp the king pins to the assembly from the looks of things.

there are adjustments on the arms see if the bolts are tight
otherwise you may need someone who knows King n Link front ends to fix
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true

You can buy a kit with king pin bushes in it.
In Brisbane, Mick motors or Leon should stock them,
as will others who sell VW parts.

The king pin bushes will need to be reamed or honed to size after fitment,
and then the assembly pressed back together.

The new link pins' bushes can be assembled in a bench vice, and normally dont need any finishing,
other than setting up the shims, as per the manual, to set the camber angle.
