Well,,, i fitted a std 1600 IRS kombi box in (2nd hand $100 off e-bay) & it`s going really good (touch wood) i spent the last 2 weeks in Byron bay, thrashing about all over the place,,, out to the Channon Markets, then up a heap of dirt roads rally fanging to Minyon falls, back to byron, down to Lennox, back to Byron, Up to Uki & Murwillumbah, Back to Byron, & then back home today

WWell i`m really liking the 1600 diff ratio,,, it`s soooo much faster to accellerate, it`s invigurating :-)

Leon has the new Albins gear kit now & the LockRite slippery diff has also arrived & is sitting on his bench now too & it should be all sorted next week, so i`m hoping this std 1600 box lasts till then at least :-)

Byron is lovely,,, I Love Byron :-)

Yeah, the 1600 boxes have nice ratios. Have one in my 1800 camper 🙂

What box have you been running before you put the 1600 in?? Most of my family run 2L housings with 1600 diff ratios and gear ratios from memory. Or if they are lucky a ZF limited slip diff centre.....

BajaChris,,, mine is a duel cab , two tones silver & gun metal grey

I used to run the 1600 boxes in my splitty with the leyland V8 behind it years ago, but mainly because they were cheap & avaliable & the diff was zippier enough to run the 12Rx15 off road tyres,,, bt lately i`ve been fitting 2litre boxes & they just havn`t lasted very long at all,,, as i`ve said above tho, i`ve now got a full Albins gear kit with zippy 1st gear, taller 2nd gear, std-ish 3rd gear & extra tall top gear ratios ... & also have a LockRight-slippery diff now too so we shall see how long that lasts

I might buy up a few more spare 1600 boxes tho, 2litre boxes are too hard to find & too dear :-)

Lexus V8s tend to love eating Kombi boxes so the way i figure it is to shove 2 turbos onto it so it makes it easier to just spin the wheels up instead of having the tyres grip & load up the box :-) :-) :-)
