Hey all, i'm after some info about getting my gearbox/ diff rebuilt. The car's a '77 dual cab and has developed a bad whine along with a chunk of what looked like part of a bearing falling out during an oil change.
I'd like some recommendations on who to take the 'box to for rebuilding? I'm in Canberra and id like somewhere not too far away, Sydney's ok. I'd rather take it to someone who will do the work themselves rather than to a workshop that just sends it on to someone else.
My other question is about removing the 'box, is it easier to get the engine and box out in one or can I take out the box alone? Different people have given me different info about it, I've worked on a number of other cars but so far have only done minor repairs to my dual.

Any help would be greatly appreciated cheers, Scott

Scott.. Is it a 2L? If so, I have a 2L box here I will do on exchange for yours.. (Actually it's at Helensburgh so closer to you)
It was for a project Dual Cab which I've since got rid of so I don't really need it..
This may be a cheaper alternative.. Email me if you need robert@designscape.com.au
