Does anyone know how much it would cost to import a car (yes bug) from the states (usa).

What are the issues/problems with doing it (if any).

Don't worry about the car being lhd as it would not be regisered (yes just a toy)😂

Any help or info would be great❗❗❗
If you drive an aircooled Volkswagen be proud of it and leave the aircooled engine in it!!!

Yeah thats about what I had thought it may cost me, I have heard if you can break down the car so it resembles 'parts' the tax on it is heaps less, but I guess that means body off 😬

I am bringing two cars over the next few months. The best price I found was $2,800 + GST per car all in. Plus I will need to pay 10% GST of the total declared value. You need to get the Import Approval BEFORE the car gets on the ship otherwise you risk customs sending it back an your own expense. I got mine myself. Not much work, just fill-in the form and send it to Canberra with a $50 cheque. Took about 3 or 4 weeks

Also depending on the value of the car, you might be up for Luxury car tax if the value more than $57k. They will ask you to provide bank transfer details, etc to justify the purchase price so no one can under declare
