Hi again

Fitting the door rubbers is so simple hey, just grab a rubber and push it in the groove.

BUTTTTTTTTTTT

On a 1973 beetle, does the door rubber have a larger flap area around the door striker mechanism. I have some new seals, most likely brazilian and besides being a little long, they have a big flap on one edge and also the seal changes shape in the middle off one of the straight sections, normally that change off shape is at a corner of bend in the door.

Any hints

Thanks Trevor

the first photo is correct

they are all like that... or should be

and the second one is where the rubber is joined...

its usually joined at a corner...

there are many factories making door rubbers in Brazil so sometimes you get good looking ones and sometimes you don't... sometimes the rubber is OK
sometimes its too soft and breaks off...
or is too hard and You can't close the door...

they should be slightly shorter rather than longer...

You could cut them at a corner and rejoin them with superglue..

cheers
