My wife asked me the same thing yesterday.....I looked blankly at her and said " don't think so, wind the window down and I'll go faster" I don't think thats the answer she wanted or you too I suppose. Good question, I know my wife would buy me one if they existed.

She said for that money she will wind the widow down or drive her car. Good lookin' kit though.

its funny nearly every superbeetle convertable sold in the states came out with A/C
never understood that one if its hot put the fking roof down 🤪

back then they used gigantic york compressors that were the same as used in giant cars like LTDs and statemans
they also used them for small cold rooms so its no wonder vw engines struggled with them

heres one on one of the last 1980 cabrios made

ive got A/C in the works on my 74 super but im building out of all modern parts to my own specs
years of working as a fridgy taught me a few things to improve on the orignal system

The worst part is where they put all the other stuff
On top of the petrol tank in the front

If you ever want to get to your steering coupler - out it all comes!

yup and learn to dislocate ur arms to get to #3 & 4 plugs.
original condensors were way to small to fit in behind the front apron
that was the main reason they never worked to well

i think if you contact mick or rohan at mick motors you will find all the answers ,fairly certain they have an aftermarket system using a small rotary compressor
Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

I didn't like any of the kits, so I made my own. There is a big thread on it here;

Having the Mazda V6 helped. I ran the digital climate control unit from the MX6. The refrigerant hoses alone cost me $400.

and MX5 air vents
