hi, is 26 inches or 660mm the usual diameter tyres used by most vw drag cars.

depends on a lot of other variables

Yes that seems to be the most common.
Boosted cars tend to eventully go up to a 28",
since most have Bus boxes and the resulting lower gearing needs the height.
Also the longer foot print offered with larger diameter can help traction.
Dave Stoker's car has gone up to 29.5" I think.
There are also shorter ones available, like 24.5" from memory.
These can suit very well too in some cases.
