Is there a way to extend the fuel tank on a 64 bug? I think I have seen a bigger tank but it comes into the luggage area a little more than I'd like.
What I wanted to know is how much space under the tank could you extend to increase the capacity? and is it possible?

I'd probably what to extend the tank by about 10 litres or more if possible..

Cheers😊

It is possible but you will need sheet metal and a good welder
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true

Interesting idea, wouldn't mind a custom tank 😉 go fiberglass on the front and what you loose in weight add in fuel :P

Hi

I remember seeing adds in old HVWs magazine for long range tanks, they just went up into the luggage area a bit higher.

When I used to do many interstate trips in my old bug I mounted a steel jerry can on its side with filler on top, on top of the stock tank with a solenoid valve to switch tanks.

Hi

I saw one on CIP and it was 16 US gallons = 60.55 litres, you wouldn't need a lowering kit.

The jerry can worked well and could be removed when not needed.
