Hi All,

I'm looking at buying a set of Autometer gauges from the USA. Does anyone have any experience about connecting a mechanical guage to the VW Type 3 speedo cable? Apparently there is a 5/8" x 18 thread connection on the rear of the speedo. Is this the right size to fit?

Thank you for any advice.

Dino.

Hi

Your better of buying an electronic Autometer speedo, that way you only need to mount a pickup sensor on the axle or maybe they sell sensor that you can plug your speedo cable into.

Thank you Steve.

I have been wavering between the mechanical and electronic speedo's. The senders for the elctronic speedos do not seem that common but I have found one that suits VDO gauges.

Thank you for your advice.

Hi

No worries.

The best thing about electronic is that you can alter the settings if you change tyres, I have a SPA speedo in my daily and you just type in the tyre diameter and off you go, I've checked with my GPS and its spot on.
