hey hey all,
got a '74 beetle, and the interior light housing and such was broken, so i bought a new one...
BUT the old type had 3 terminals for 3 different wires,
now the new one has only 2 terminals....so whats with that?
the originals had the 3 wire setup - power, ground and door switches
some of these taiwanese repoops are hopeless
ive seen them use the metal retainer strap as the ground
does ur new light have a 3 position switch? ie on/door/off
just connect the door switch wire which should be brown with white stripe to the terminal near the switch and the red power wire to the single terminal at the opposite end to the switch
helps to d/c the battery or remove the fuse b4 doing any of this
that red wire is live and will short out if u touch the body with it

umm all the wires are white, not marked like everyone has
Get a test light and see which one is live, then label it before you connect it up (for future reference).
