i have a 2 lit bus i pulled the dizy of and gave it a good clean ,now this where it goes wrong i cannot find any timing marks any where on the pully ,so of with the tappet cover for no 1 and bring to tdc via the loose tappets but for the life of me it just won't time any ideas would be great it was running ok before i FIXED IT

The pulley mark is very often very small and hard to locate. turn the motor until No 3 valves rock and this will be very close to TDC on No1 cyl, you can verify this with a small rod down the plug hole. The mark on the pulley should then line up with 0 on the timing scale.
thank you will have another go tomorrow

well found the pin head dot thats a timing mark fired up no worries BUT when i put the timing light on it it is nearly 180 deg out times great when i use that when its on the deg marks it just stalls

I would first check that the crank is set at compression TDC for number 1, remove the distributor and realign the rotor button shaft from the current position by 180 degrees and set plug leads to suit.
I'm not 100% sure but I think I had to do this once to my old Gemini for the same reason.
A POSSE AD ESSE.
I live in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.
