Just wondering what the advantages of adjusters are in the front end of the baja. I currently have a bare K&L beam and am considering welding some adjusters in. Is it worth putting the adjusters in? or another option i have is to heat and bend the bump stop and use coil over shocks to lift the front. i know i will probably get more lift from the adjusters but am i really gonna need that much height? what are your opinions? Advantages and disadvantages of both...

cheers
Mick.

The biggest advantage of coarse is the adjustment of coarse , and as for coil overs on the front they are not just a bolt on item as they will fowl the upper arm and so need to be moved back at the top , which we make a bolt on adapter for .
But in saying that the front shock towers were never ment to have spring load on them especially in the front of a heavy Baja.

yeah, I know i will need the adaptors. So you reckon the adjusters are a better option? Can i just use standard shocks with adjusters? or will i need longer ones?

I'm with Andrew, shock towers are for dampners, and the quality of most coilovers is questionable. With adjusters you are carring the load of the car where it's designed to, the torsion bars. One more point, baja's with coil overs tend to be very stiff in the front with the increased spring rate, this in turn will crack the chassis.

Hi 1916baja. I assume in your case with adjusters your choice would be to go up. In this case, yes, longer shocks would probably be needed depending on how much you wound it up. If you really wanted the look of the coil overs though a decent strut brace (I know they're not actually struts) between the shock towers would certainly help them carry more load by stopping them from wanting to bend inwards towards each other. Just a thought. There would have to be some holes cut in the body though.
