I just hit a Dog a few kms South of Scone, I was doing 100 KMH..
Had no chance to slow down..
hit the LH side of the bumper...
the bumper bent around into the guard
not a lot of damage.. just the mark from the bumper
where it was pushed into the guard... bit of a dent..
bumper has bent in the middle but its a German bumper so I can probably fix it... hopefully
the bumper bracket was also bent..
if it was a Brasillian bumper it would have bent round into the guard and possibly onto the tyre...
so, the guard and bumper would have been wrecked...
the bracket holding the headlamp rim and headlamp has moved and the headlight is hanging by the screw and pointing down wards...
it should be an easy fix too...
I just hope there is no other damage...
tomorrow will tell... when I see it in daylight...
haven't checked My driving/fog lamps yet..

a lot worse than hitting a fox too...
probably would have done a lot of damage to my lancer too..
these old Beetles are stronger than they look...

Not good Lee, glad you are ok and hopefully the poor dog didn't suffer.
I imagine if you didn't have bumpers on your car the damage to yourself and the car would have been worse.
mate of mine wrote off a 2 month old Lancer last year after hitting a kangaroo at highway speeds at night. it was so astronomical cost to repair it and it was written off and he got a new car.

If He was walking instead of running I wouldn't have hit him..
If I was doing 80 kmh I wouldn't have hit him as He would have already crossed the road..
originally: Just hit a dog at 100 kmh...
now modified to: Just hit a dog, I was doing 100 kmh not the dog.. lol

that sux dude, always sad when something dies, surprised about the minimal damage on the bug, shows that the germans new what they were doing and that the bumpers were exactly that, not like on new cars when they cave at nothing.

not as funny as the cat I killed with an old holden
When I started the car I heard the loud knocking noise
I popped the bonnet and there was diced cat everywhere
it must have been asleep and ran into the fan when the engine started

now thats bad,but know how you feel ,living on a main road have lost 3 cats 🙁🙁😢😢😢🙁🙁🙁
That's bad. My street's a busy-ish backstreet - I was terrified of my cat getting hit, but I also thought he was smart and quick enough not to do anything stupid. I'm not getting another cat until I move house next year.

Be like me and have a cat run attached to the house and they will never get ran over they only go out in the back yard when I'm out there with them, but they are all spoilt. I learnt the hard way as well. Cats and roads don't go good together.

until a few years ago when 1 got put down age 16 years, another died 11 yrs, and the other died of loneliness I had dogs all my life. None of them ever got ran over because none of them were roaming the streets. The one that got to 16 was a master fence climber/jumper. People used to ask why our gates had ugly extensions on the top making them 5 foot high. To keep the little mongrel foxie x in! Animals get out sometimes, but if you dont take steps to stop it from happening its your fault and you should be made to pay for the damage.
I've got a massive back yard here and my daughter would love another dog. But its not secure, so we settle for fish and a mouse.
