my daughters (well, it's actually mine, but you know what daughters can be like...) 68 beetle has snapped 3 speedo cables, so.... maybe the unit is seized... (checked it by spinning the cable by hand - 🙅 won't move!) anyone got one, either in sydney or amidale?

The speedo on my 75 L seized aobut 10 or 15 years ago, and I just dismantled it, lubricated the drive area, and put it back in. It is still going. From memory, I just had to gently pry open the rim that holds the face on to get into it, then fold it back in when I finished.

I have one here out of a 65 if you are interested. Just confirming, mine doesn't have a fuel gauge in the speedo (not sure what year this started).

if your looking to be technically correct 68 was a one year only speedo so theyre getting pretty hard to find but any 68 onwards flatscreen one fits

as jeff said if you have the patience they can usually be freed up
