I reckon Clarkson was deliberately stirring - trying to get us Aussies wound up!
Cheers, Greg
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!
HAHAHA, was watching that too, yelling at the tv "ITS BATHURST".
God that supercharger whine sounded good🤪

yep clarkson needs some english lessons
I would have thought Clarkson was winding Aussies up but Hampster said it too!
I felt so proud to be an Aussie though! Kept saying "that's right" and "damn straight" all the time and I never use those phrases!
Hamster says what Clarkson tells him to say!
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!
Hi
Note to Victorians, Bathurst is pronounced Bath urst, not Bath hirst like most Mexicans say it, even Peter Brook got it wrong, but they cant even say where the F1 race is held in Melbourne properly, the say Elbert Park, not Albert Park.
Steve
LOL....they were pronouncing it in the true BBC stylie of Ba(r)th-hurst, as in the town of Ba(r)th, or the tub thing that sits in the corner of your ensuite. Clarkson, being from further north than Watford, should have used his normal dialect and been able to pronounce it correctly.

Yes,
You are correct
I wonder if that car {Vauxhall] V8 supercharged [Walkinshaw]
will it be called that in the UK....???
it was said the Maloo was not a pick up but a Ute...
but from then on it was called a pick Up...
I'm not sure they even know that Ute is short for Utility..??

Hammond always gets excited when he's testing a car with grunt but i have to admit have never seen him that excited & enjoying it to the max.
has to be better than mass commercialism on uk tv for holden.
Regardless of how they pronounce Bathurst, one thing that Jeremy and Co always do is to get ecstatic about Australian cars like that.
They always criticise BMW for its complex and annoying electronics. Jaguar has a gizmo that cuts off the engine if you start to drift under power. They dislike paddle gear changes and too much electronics.
Holdens and Falcons on the other hand are still basic cars with full controll by the driver and that's what the like about them.
One of the problems with modern cars is that the avaerage car computer could probably put an astronaut onto the moon. When it has to run a car it has very little to do, so the engineers find things for the computer to do and that's where all the electronic gimmickry is coming from.
Well, Lee, here ya go - it's called the VXR8 Ba(r)thurst Edition:
http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vx/vxr/index.html#/special-editions/vxr8-bathurst/pressrelease/
Where as the "normal version" is simply called the VXR8
