Judging by the state of the screwdriver handle he's given that a few go's... it's v.cool and fair play to him for having a go at the bet and not giving up until he figured it out. Sounds like a proper VW fanatic! 🙂

Rose,
This is a quote from Lee Noonan when we posted that footage on our site back in August.
Did anyone notice the strange engine lid lock HOLE... this was on 1967 German made beetles... which had the 1968 type lock and many other improvements over the 1967 beetles sold in Australia...
Also, you will notice that they are using a very well worn and stretched belt, I doubt you could do it with a new one or even with an old one that has been shimmed to fit correctly.
Incredible how it just lands in his hand on the 1st attempt. I know there's tricks to VW maintainence only the most experienced know, but that's something else..... 🤪
i just realised by the nails... this appears to be a females hand...
hmm...
Its not mine.. i swear! just to let you know ...
None the doubt... the pic puts into perspective the potential consequences :P
In all seriousness i already got 7 stitches in my index finger after 6 hrs at the hospiital from the vw only 3 months ago. Always fun...
I have way worse looking pictures than that of fingers. From safety training and stuff at work. But I don't think they're quite appropriate to put up on here.

If you said I was a Volkswagen man, you'd be right.
