I need new seats in my bug, its a 71 standard.

When i say i need new seats i mean it, the steel frame is coming through my seat cover.

Im after some bucket seats like these, does anyone have any suggestions on brands and how to attach them easily.

Cheers, not sure if this is the right spot to be posting but if it isnt please move it.

i have those ones in my beetle.. i took the frames off my old seats then used some flat bar thats welded onto the tops of frames. then then drill holes through them int the right location relitive to th bolt holes in the bottom of the seats ,,, too easy.. not sure if this is legal.... good luck....

I have similar seats in my bug. They are by Autotechnica http://www.autotecnica.com.au/seats.html , and I got them from my local Autobahn store. I am pretty sure I also saw them at Repco.

I found you had to be carfull that the model you get isn't too wide, especially in the side cushions. My bug is a 75L, and has the 3-point seat slides, but I can't see why you couldn't fit them in an early bug. Here is a photo of the seats in the car. I can take a photo of the mounts we made if you wish.

you'll need to get them engineer certified otherwise if your in an accident the insurance companies will have a field day

i just welded up some simple brackets for mine that bolt to the stock VW runners

as Jeff said most buckets are to wide to fit directly to vw runners, you cant slide them in place if you do

its pretty easy to make something up
once u unclip the stock runners from the bottom of the seat they have a nice square section that you can bolt something to

i have got pics somewhere of my buckets bolted down
but heres the frame anyway
