Hi Guys

When you go from 1300 - 1640 cc with the barrel and piston kits, what do you normally do with the heads. Do people take some out of the chamber or just leave it the way it is.

when i convert i usually just put 1500 singleport or twin port 1600 heads.........you can machine the 1300 heads for the larger bore size, but the inlet and exhaust ports are smaller.

I have a 1300 TP and just rebuilt the bottom end, put in a scat cam and a 1641 barrel and piston kit. Im now wondering what the Compression ratio increase will be if I fit the standard 1300tp heads. They fit as I got the Barrels that have the same size top lip. Been thinking that the increase in cubes will be too much C/R for normal fuel.

It will be fine.....TP 1300heads have 45cc combustion chambers and 1600heads have 51cc. (from memory)

It will work well. 👍

Thanks Graig

The CC'S have helped me heap, the 1300 heads will give me 9.5:1 and If I fit the 1600 heads I will have 8.5:1.
Maybe I will fit a copper head gasket to it and drop it down to around 9.2, what do you guys suggest for a beetle on unleaded.

9.5:1 is fine as long as you run 95 octane.

What deck height are you running ?

it does sound like less hassle.
