Howdy all,
I acquired a set of Weber 40dcn carbs with a kombi I recently purchased, they are on manifolds for a T2 and and were on a 2ltr. I was thinking about using them on a T1 though I havent had a lot to do with them as Herb runs Kads.
Are manifolds for a T1 easily obtainable, and are the carbs worth the effort. They came with linkages etc which appear to be adaptable.
Any advice appreciated.

3 or 4 bolt?
I had a pair of 3 bolts on my buggy.
ran fine, rebuild kits are available.
I picked up some 4 bolt manifolds from ebay a while back
for EFI use, so they are still about.
I hadn't seen them of the usual sites though.
they're 60's gear, if you want period speed I guess it suits
I ran a single 40DCNF on a 1700 type 1 in the early 80's, had it jetted and dyno-tuned to suit the mild cam and extractors on my baja. It was great, good smooth power.
Bill Fisher's book from that era 'how to hotrod VW engines' advises to to mill a small slot in the base if you are using an isolated tube manifold. Otherwise for duals he reckons 30 or 32 mm venturis should work as well as DCNL's.
Uber kafer, what linkage did you use with the dcnf?? 🙂
Linkage was the only real issue actually.
It was next to a generator, so that can be a factor as Alternators are a different diameter.
The carb had to be oriented to have the throttle arm on the left side, which is why you normally see the float bowl side when single 40 DCNF's are used in beetles. I think I flipped the arm to drop it low, so undo the nut etc on the throttle shaft and the arm can be rotated 180 deg. And i got a suspicion that i drilled the fan housing front and back to move the accel cable tube to the left to get a better shot at the arc of the throttle arm, but be careful, theres a rather important thing inside there full of black stuff that comes out if you drill holes in it. 😂
This was all done 30 years ago, but I am fairly certain, sort of...maybe.
But have a look and I think you will see that it all just lines up & fits.
Jason, can I ask why you sold the other one? It would have been easier to set them up as duals 🤓
