Just wondering how to get rid of the tapping noise in the heads.
As in the past, somepone up your way said "please explain". 😂 Is it the valve train tapping. What engine, how worn etc. Makes it much easier to give some suggestions.

find a good vw machace or have a go ya self if you are very lousie at diy than get a mugcanic to do
👍👍😂🙅🥷😬🤓
I used to get taping noise in my head once, but not now that I have a DVD player!
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!
if it is the rocker ticking i had that too
i did a good clearance adjusting behind the cam lobes
didn't work (but tick less)
later when i changed my run-in oil. i redo the clearance at tdc filled motor with thick 30-70 oil something rather..
took the rocker arms out grinded the adjuster bolts coz they have dent on the end
and it stops ticking
for a week
As 1500S commented
We need to know how old the engine is
if its been overhauled etc...
the tappets [in the heads] need to be adjusted at least every 4th oil change..
I do mine every 2nd oil change [every 2000kms]
Its very important to have the tappets adjusted in an air cooled engine..
if they are not adjusted ,You risk the dreaded dropped valve
when the valves overheat and the head comes off...

PS: Get someone to show You how to adjust/check the tappets... read in Rob & Dave's ; http//:vw-resource.com/
