Greedy

I know the sponsers sites, I already purchased two lenses and they are rubbish. They do not fit into the chrome bezel, plus the reverse part of the lens fell out of the rest. I am chasing good ones like original quality

This is a common problem nowadays. Original Hella lenses don't seem to be available any more.

The Brazilian and Taiwanese 'Polymatic' style lenses you buy at VW shops now, fade and go chalky and opaque within a year or so. Also the reflectors don't seem to work very well. I've tried buying them from local VW shops, and also from overseas suppliers - doesn't matter, they are all the same.

I tend to think of them as 'consumables' now, and just accept having to buy new ones (front and rear for the Kombi) once a year.

At least Kombi front blinker lenses can be turned upside down and swapped over to get extra life from them - they always fade from the top down.

Unless you can buy Hella, they will all be crap. I bought mine for our 68 and 72 beetles by watching Samba. It took 2 years to get 2 sets though so you may have to be patient. They are also not cheap but they do last. If you are after earlier ones, some pommie shops have the Hella so you can try http://www.status-vw.co.uk/shop/index.html or http://www.vwrelics.co.uk and see what they have.
