6/73 Type Three Square. Stock 1600 with stock dual carbs. Heads appear to have been exchanged and at some time with Brazilian ones so not sure what work has been done.

The story so far: the car had major problems a week or so back. The distributor stuffed up and had too much rotation and the pertronix unit fried. I put the 009 back in for now and the car was ok. Then a few days ago the car started to cut out randomly. Only the engine seems to be affected. Lights and all electrical still work. I have fuel and have tested for power to the coil as well as spark. Timing is correct for the 009 and valve gap is in spec. The motor just dies. There is no misfiring before. Five minutes later the engine starts fine and all is ok. Could it be the condenser? if not I am stumped. As this is my daily driver I need it to be reliable

err ummm....I think I found the problem. The tach wire was going to the positive terminal of the coil. I just connected everything the way it was and a few wires were added by the PO. I was able to test the coil again with some help and there was no spark from the coil. Removed all but the essential wires from the coil and started fine.
