Just about to fit up a pro street tunnel style transmission to a pre 60 T1 floorpan, and am wondering if the 36hp split case axles are strong enough to handle a bit of abuse or should I be looking for a pair of later (60-66) short axles?

36er axles are bogus,
so are the early 60s ones.
Best are about 66- 67aussie if you want short.

They are very thick at the spline end,
and the shaft near the spade is thicker than the earlier ones.
The weak ones are almost parallel
