Hi, at the site -
http://type2.com/rvanness/lock.htm
there are instructions about -
Replacing the '69-79 Bus Front Door Lock Spring
It says that the door lock spring part number 211 837 061 is still available for around USD1-60.
Does anyone know if and where this part is available in Australia or a web site where it is available?
Thanks.

You have the Volkswagen part number, so the first place to try is your local VW dealer (if one exists). However as the Australian VW importers have changed several times in the last 15 years, I doubt whether modern 'European - Classic' VW dealers stock old air-cooled parts like that little spring. I have a friend with a '98 Polo, and she has difficulty getting THAT serviced correctly nowadays. But you should at least ring and find out.

Otherwise try a large VW specialist near you - Mick Motors for example, or VVDS or Volksbahn in Sydney.

Then there's the motor wrecker alternative...
