Before you start, what are your welding and sheet metal skills like?

Got none.. did a tiny bit of welding at school about 8 years ago but forgotten most of it now.. Very keen to learn tho.. Iv always wanted to but have no mates/family that have the knowledge to learn off... They all prefer football or golf over fixing up cars.. haha..

I know i have allot to learn but im eager to learn and really want to get my hands dirty..

Cheers Vice

Just looking into some welding courses as recommended above and wondering what type would be better to learn.. Arc Mig ??

This one is the only one i wouldnt have to drive 3 hours to every night..

"Gain hands-on experience in using oxy-acetylene and electric arc welding equipment.
The skills learned can be used on projects such as metal gates, metal furniture,
automotive body panels, and the repair of tools and machinery."

Sound allright ??

Oxy welding happens a lot slower than MIG. Most likely better for the beginner. Do a course on both if you can. Then you may have a mate down there who will lend you the gear for a while. Rental on the cylinders is a bit expensive for oxy for you if you have no other use for it.

quote (iso formatts... and they are huge)
you tight ass you have 1.3 tb's lmao
welding ok mig is different to arc (stick)
oxy is slow and harder to get the hang of
same as tig
mig is fast and easy to pick up but a $$ to setup
stick is cheap but not good for thin stiff... unless you get one of the hand pease like on bug me ... never seen one my self
start a tafe corse one night a week level 1 you will start with oxy (i haven't used in years) then it will do stick then mig

and you will be able to sneek your jobs in and use all there cool gear 👍
