I use and recommend ACE 30 or ACE 40 for older engines. It is by name Air Cooled Engine Oil designed specifically for our air cooled engines and totally Australian made/owned. Unfortunately it seems the website is down presently.

I used Penrite but now use Fuchs from the farther land 🙂
ace is good too

Thats the problem doesn't seem to be easy to get. I get mine from Matt but not sure how available it is in other states?

I use Gulf Western comp 50 in my slightly worked 2L. Has been working great, engine always runs cool.
59 beetle,61 beetle,72 dual cab,58 beetle,55 splitty,
