hello all. I have notice a bit of play in the king pins on my 67 beetle, what i need to know is how do I replace them? and where do I get the new ones from? and how much would they cost? I am also going to put 2 inch drop spindles on at the same time.I live in Adelaide. I have had a look at Classic Vee-Dub website but couldnt find what I am looking for.any help wuld be great.
Hell again, I forgot to ask if I need to change anything (norrowed beam?) to put the drop spindles on? or will they fit as is? cheers Gary

Special tools are required to ream the king pin bush to size once pressed into the stub axle. Take whichever stub you're using and your cleaned front stub assemblies to a good vee dub shop to fit new German king and link pin kits.
does anyone know of a place in Adelaide that can fit new king pins? Cheers Gary
any good machine shop can do this for ya. All it is are new brass bushes pressed into the steer knuckle and reamed for a good fit of the new King pin.
Once reamed the king is pressed thro the steer arm yoke and then the Link bushes can be pressed in.
Pressing isn't entirely necessary as you can get away with drifting it in but pressing is easier/better.
You also may require an old LP shim to shim the king pin with and sand the fibre washer down for the desired tolerance. If you don't do this you will
get premature wear of your new King pin
