nickr - July 19th, 2006 at 10:54 PM

Hi All,
Well I've been having some login issues, so after a change of username I'm back (so pettles is dead!!!).

Copied from old post (please ignor the old post).

Well it's official. I'm a VW owner for the very first time!!!!! The car was picked up yesterday. 68 fastback. 2 owner. The person who I purchased if from bought it from the original owner and didn't drive it (been in his shed for 6 years). The paper work is all there. It's off to the mechanics for a couple of weeks for engine work + lowering + wheels + new exhaust + rego

Here’s a few sneakies!!!! (it's on the trailer in the garage so the photos are a little limited!!!).

Mick H "I'm jealous,do you want a pet Hairy Gutted Sloth??? I come with a leash" We'll if the sloth knows how to lower, service and polish, then there might be some room!!

dak002 Well the car is at the mechanics at the moment. New brakes, full engine tune/service have been done. Fuel flilter has been moved, front seat has been re-sprung etc etc. The pan is to get a roadworthy then next week I'll to the 1000km drive from Albury to Adelaide!!!

Sweet ride. Keep it nice and simple.

I'm amazed no one has asked to buy the drivers side rain deflector off you.

nickr - July 19th, 2006 at 11:45 PM

empi - July 21st, 2006 at 03:36 PM

Suppose you will want a roof rack?

nickr - July 23rd, 2006 at 01:56 PM

Empi roof rack is definatly on the list.........wheels first though!!!

Well the car is has returned from the mechanics with 2 thumbs up. Brakes were the only problem. Engine was spot on (for now)! Bit of a reshuffle (moved fuel filter and a few other things!). Extractors were removed (also for now!) and a NOS exhaust was fitted for the short term. Front seat has been re-sprung.............A heap of little things were all sorted, cleaned, checked, replaced etc.

Coming back with me next week so it'll be really tested. 1000km from Albury to Adelaide. Will photograph the trip.

So I'm carless until wednesday, and as a result a new bike was in order (I've know of this for a while but sorted it out the other day). 69 Malvern Star GT Skidstar.........it's gold!!!!!! Handle bars are about 2 feet wide!

It has a mint interior, and after a full wash scrubbed up real nice!!! fuel injected, irs, discs, 60's style interior!! all good stufff. I'ver brought this machine to adealide for now. One will have to go!!!!

vwfastback - September 6th, 2006 at 10:02 AM

"and on the road trip from Beechworth to Adelaide...."

You just gave me a flashback there. I learnt to drive in a fastback where you were in that photo. It was Rushworth, not Beechworth.

Thanks for the memory there.

James C.

nickr - September 6th, 2006 at 07:49 PM

Hi James, yeah you're spot on, the photo is in rushworth. My Grandparents lived there for 20 years (or something like that anyway) and now in bendigo. I have a few people to visit on route from Beechworth to Adelaide and this was the first stop
