Double wishbone Idependent Front suspension
THUDKNUCKLE - July 25th, 2006 at 02:29 PM

Hi there guys just wanted to ask a quick question as to why i cant seem to find anybody running a custom swingarm front end in their vw.

It doesnt seem all that hard to do using an old holden or ford double whishbone front end thats been been modified a bit. If any one has any info on a similar type setup i would be extremely glad to hear from you as i am currently looking for a new project for my baja.

Cheers

Thud - I seem to recall there's a thred somewhere on this site where someone's done exactly that using a cutdown standard beam and fabricating their own A-arms and mounts. For the life of me I can't seem to find it - but if I do come across it I'll let you know

no-one does it because of the extreme pain and cost involved with getting it approved for road legal use.

Offroad people make front ends all the time.

Retro-fitting holden parts would be silly, as the VW stuff is better and stronger for offroad use. If it was a good idea then the offroad racers would be doing it.
