Shock or ball joint is most common cause of noises. Just using your hand isn't enough to check ball joints or tie rod ends. Also need to check centre
pin for play

Centre pin bushes is quite a job for the inexperienced as you need special tools such as a mandrel to drive out the bush's and drive in the new ones
without damage. The tie rods and steering drag link also need to be removed, but you want to test these first by squeezing them with a pair of
multigrips, any up and down movement within the joint and it needs replacement. Now two hammers can work on separating the tie rod ends and you can
make a drift, but a relatively good workshop and tools would be best. A wheel alignment is also necessary after the job.
