Type 3 IRS CV boot issue

My Tweety trike had IRS type 3 tranasaxle set up. Today one of the CV boots (outer) came out of the plate with the 6 holes in it. Upon my first ever inspection of this boot and its home it divorced (sic) I thought the boot just came out of its slot. However it seems to me having sighted units for sale that they come with the boot and the plate in one unit. Why would my boot come out?

I've got it back in about half way and a new cable tie on the axle seems to be keeping it there but am not confident it will.

Question- is the boot meant to be a loose fit or pressed in by the manufacturer

Hi
early Workshop manuals show the boots as 3 pieces..
the flange with the holes, the rubber boot plus a hose clamp to hold the rubber boot onto the flange..
so, it seems from the factory the early ones were in separate pieces but I have never ever seen one of those, the ONLY ones You can buy now that have the boot clamped into the flange..
I've never seen or heard of the rubber boot coming out of the crimped flange.. but maybe its a problem??? I haven't heard of....!!

with poor quality ones the rubber will normally crack.. . but not pull out

makes sense Lee.

I had my aigbags very low on pressure allowing more full swinging of the swingarms till I got to a garage to pump them up. Hence the boots might have been stretching further than normal. The other side is wedged in great. So the boot has come out. will seek another and get it replaced. any particualr make for good quality? thanks in advance.
