My new bus - 75 Kombi 1600
Had a kombi, got bitten by the bug and bought a beetle, discovered the error of my ways and stumbled upon this gem. Just had roadworthy signed off
yesterday so all transferred and ready to cruise.
She had a name that I don't like but haven't thought of a new one yet. Only one picture at this stage as its all I had time for this morning.
Factory 1600 (no engine hatch cut out) which has had the engine replaced at some stage, still with a 1600 but engine number is very short (AB***A5) so
is a factory replacement case apparently. Engine seems pretty stock except for the twid Kadrons, plenty of power and totally different to drive than
my last bus with a 1600 single carb. Pretty much everything else is stock. She rides on stock rims and 8 ply LT tyres. Potentially it may end up with
some nice T3 factory alloys on there depending on how they look. Currently only a 2 seater so planning to fit rear seats and child seat anchors very
soon.
It isn't a project as a lot of the hard stuff has been done, rust done, painted, dynamat installed etc. Just a few personal touches to make it all
mine.

Lovely bus.
Great move back to a well sorted kombi - kombis are such a versatile vehicle.
Show us some donk photos and the interior.
I like the idea of the T3 factory 14" alloys - will fit perfect and you really dont see it done as those alloys are very rare.
Cheers,
Scott

Nice bus. Not a lot of red ones.
You can use a lot of Mercedes rims too, that is what we used 16 inch with 55 series tyres, and the speedo is perfect.

He was fantastic to deal with. I bought it sight unseen as I figured if it was roadworthy it couldn't be half bad for the price, he then arranged to
meet me halfway a couple of days later so I could have a look at it and confirm I was happy with it before he put it in for rwc, didn't want a
deposit or anything. Failed first rwc as a couple of the tyres had some sidewall cracks so he fitted 4 new yokahama lt tyres (most people would only
do the 2 needed and use cheapies or secondhand), new brake hoses, steering joint, couple of gaskets and other things. Even delivered it to me in the
city on the day of collection. Can't speak highly enough of him.
So all in all I think I got a pretty good one. Paint isn't great but it's more presentable than my last one, cost less and without the rust. Much
faster and more responsive with twin carbs than the single my other bus had. Retrosound radio needs work as it won't tune. Want to redo the roof
lining (black carpet is too dark) and interior a bit, that's it for now.
