Type 3 Questions .....

Hi,
Couple of questions....

Is the front beam with disc brakes from a 69 a straight swop if I want to put it on a 66 .. or will the disc brake parts fit onto a 66 drum brake beam ?

How hard is it to convert a swing axle Gearbox 66 Squareback into an IRS Rear ? is it a matter of cutting out the gearbox horns and bolting in the later subframe or is it more involved ?

Thanks,
Mark.

yes straight swap for front and unbolt whole rear subframe for a straight swap back.
but youll have to put in engine mounts for the body and motor as early is held by horns and late irs is mounted by a moustache bar.

Thanks for the offer, I have a couple myself hence seeing if they can be used in upgrading an earlier Type 3.

Cheers,

Mark.

Type 3 beams are all ball joint, so you can just change the spindles to disc and the master cylinder to dual type from a later car, the rear subframe unbolts from the pan but to use the IRS subframe you will need to weld in the engine cross bar mounts as early cars don have these.
