Ringwood Hillclimb 21-22 June vid added28/6

On the 21-22 June the MG Car Club will host round 2 of the inter Tri Series Championships at Ringwood Motorsport Complex.
It will be held on the new hillclimb track which will be the venue for the Australian Titles later in the year.
I fitted up my new Advan tyres for this event to gain some data for the Aussie champs later.

Cheers Col

I'm excited bout new tyres for my car,I can run full slicks in my class but not sure if I will or if its worth the extra $$ for the time difference not to mention quicker wear...

Good luck racing too!!!!

Went up and saw the boys run today Colin managed to crack into the top ten finishing 9th outright out of 70 cars. He was I think 4th or 5th tintop and I believe 1st production car, 1st in class and set the track record for the new hillclimb track. GT also had a cracker. He was 12th outright and 2nd in class. They both gave some sport sedans and open wheelers a run for their money. Congrates guys on an excellent result.

As soon as I crossed the finish line after my last run I smiled, that was a goodie, I,m shaking!.
After unloading my car and breezing through scrutineering I lined up for my first practice run. Ringwood has been lengthened and has lots of corners with funny little characteristics. Without any references I started with 24psi front and 28psi rear cold in the brand new Advans.
They felt good but a little understeering and skaty. Next practice run 30psi front 32psi rear, mmm better but not yet. Checked the times, shit! fastest car on the track practicing. 3rd practice run 28psi front 30psi rear, allrighty now were getting somewhere.
Gt arrived later than me and did 3 practice runs as well on old tyres just to see where the new track goes.
After practice finished GT and I walked the track twice to get a close feel for the new layout, we both agreed, there was some tricky sections.
Sunday dawned clear but cooler, Gt and I decided to clean each others front tyres on the start line as we were split in the running order, with the pits being sandy this proved to be a brilliant plan.
Run 1, tyres felt okay ,track was cold and dirty with sand on the start line. Leaving the line at only 4000rpm meant slow first section splits but after 1 run I was 1st outright!.44.20. Stop the event, bring on the rain! LOL.
Run 2, track was warming up so a little more effort netted a 43.27, tyres were now becoming good.
Run 3, decided with the cloud coming over this was going to be a big go. Fluffed the start and fell of the track at turn 4.
Run 4, I was confident I had the tyre pressures spot on now, I checked the times and saw GT was closing the gap, dam he,s driving well. I was 10th outright and with the chance of finishing in the top ten outright I gave it everything.
I hopped out of the car and new that was my fastest run of the day, you just know.

Final results,

1st in class 42.77
1st Imp Prod car
4th fastest tin top
9th outright (73 cars)
Biggest grin and happiest driver of the day.

Cheers Col

This is my 3rd run. As posted before I was super keen to have a fast one and with the start line so slippery I tried to leave the line with minimal revs.
Note to self, fk87 cam loves 7000/8000rpm , not so much 3000rpm of start line.
Then I fell of the track up the top:no::no::no: Ohh well lucky my last run was a goodie.
