My 70 1500 beetle

This is my other beetle, a little different to my superbug. I've owned the car for 23 years, has been restored, still needs a few things like carpet and the new wheels i have to be fitted.
Runs a Golf 1.8 8v with an aftermarket ecu. Had it properly tuned recently, making 110hp @ the wheels.
I'm using the car mainly for bitumen motorkhana / khanacross events. Hopefully will make it to the Warwick drags one year.

Very nice :tu:
Are the rules regarding modifications to cars a little more relaxed in QLD than in NSW?
Cheers, Rob.

Well it looks good anyway.
Maybe someone else will chime in with some info.
It could be just me, but I seem to see more modified - regoed vehicles from QLD.
Cheers, Rob.

Very nice looking 1500 Beetle...
Good job with the engine....

is that rear bumper a std Beetle bumper as used in Australia or a larger one ?? it looks very big..

the US late beetle bumpers always looked larger than Ours...

I love the over riders too...

Lee, the rear bumper is the standard 1500 rear, that's how we bought it in 91 complete with only the rear over riders. I'd love 2 for the front but are hard to find

I've been thinking of this conversion, where did you buy the adaptor plate? Any tips ? I've got a 2001 golf with a good 1.6 I'd like to use.

Be careful with the golf engine you choose, as they won't fit with the firewall intact.
I have a spare adaptor and flywheel if that helps, or try John Sherman as he will have some.
