Martin & King production numbers
Anyone one know if there is a way to cross check the production line number that was stamped on the left hand side of the engine bulkhead (started MKA
?????) and the chassis number which was stamped on the right.
Not sure how long this MKA number was used, but both numbers were definitely in use for the earlier buses, when Martin & King were assembling the
CKDs in the mid to lates 50s before the Aussie factory was built.
Is there a known list that could tell you what chassis number you should have if know the MKA number or vice versa?

Cheers Denver
That thread doesn't tell me exactly what I was after but at least seems to confirm the difficulty I will have matching the two numbers.
I have a registered 56 Microbus, chassis number 156216 (which makes it Nov/Dec 55) but that ties in with the fact that it was a CKD bus.
Someone over the years has drilled a hole through the MKA number to run a fuel line. As a result it's really hard to read, but I think it may state
MKA 1701 or MKA 1709?
We're they always 4 digit numbers back then? The bus for some reason has been registered using 17009 which I beleive to be wrong - just trying to
establish correctly what it should have been.

In2vw's on here knows a lot about the MKA sequence and a rough dating. I have two Ovals that are 626 numbers apart on their chassis, but only 575
apart on their MKA numbers, so there must have been some differences as to how the MKA numbers where shared between Beetles and Kombi's.
For reference here are some of mine :
MKA 2815 - OCT 54
MKA 15801 JULY 56
MKA 17181 SEPT 56
MKA 17756 SEPT 56
Good luck with it mate.
