Before fitting body to pan Question

Hi all'
I have been building a bug for the past 5 years now! I'm at the stage were I'm about to fit the body to the pan. The pan was purchased complete with everything replaced and re built. My concern is what can and can't be worked on once the body is fitted. I need the body fitted so I can complete the suicide doors as I will run into alignment issues if done off the chassis. I will attach a few pic's of the chassis for reference. Thanking you guys in advance ;)

Thanks Bizzare all the rust has been removed and heater channels replaced. Will check fuel lines and clutch tubes!! I have pics in the rats and rod section, you are following my post over there! Not sure how low it's going to sit till the body goes on so not touching suspension at this point. So can all the wireing can be done after the body is fitted? Cheers

Engine tuning is easier when the body is off if that might come into your consideration at all?
I'm using ratchet straps off the roof to lift the body up and down all the time to make it easy :)
Check my ride out

Makes sense adlbeetle66 as I need to align my door and do a little more welding, I'd like to fit the body to the pan with the pan seal! What are you using to keep your seal in place. I was thinking of only sticking it down to the pan for now and then seal with seam sealer on the final fit!! Will check ou your ride right now!! Thanks for the info I'm still a long way from working on the engine ;) Cheers

Haven't had the seal on yet.. just while i'm doing all the body work, i'm constantly lifting up and down to check the lining up etc.
Sometimes it takes me and my brother to let the ratchet straps down slowly and carefully :)

Had a look at your build!! Looks the goods ;) So no hassle fitting the body over the engine? I've never done a body off before!! I'm worried that if I test fit without the seal and align my doors that they may be out once I put the seal in. I've got a bit of welding ahead of me and would hate to do it all for nothing!! Ps trying to get all the major welding done so I can get stuck into the bodywork!!

Love your build too :D
Its certainly easier getting the body over the engine than getting the engine under the body :spin:
The seal wil squash down once you get the bolts in i am assuming, someone else will confirm.
I'm only 14 y.o so hopefully my information is correct

I just stuck the seal to the pan with Sikaflex (got rid of the factory nails)

When cured cut out the bolt holes, then it's there for good.

Don't use any gloop between seal and body.

Re the engine and body thing if using dual carbs they will have to be off to clear.

Single/centre mount carbs will clear.

My roofchop is almost the same as yours, 4 inch....had it on the road for a week then killed the engine.......

Pics when the engine is fixed.....

Cheers
