Fastback and Slow Ghia
I've been working on a Ghia for more weeks than I care to remember - on and off. Finally got the safety certificate yesterday. Happy days...
Also took the grinder to the Fastback. Not so happy days.

Fastback - trial fit of engine into late model Type 3 rear suspension subframe (it's times like these that I wish I had frame horns)

Needs pans and a heater channel. I'll patch the pans (probably). Not going over budget on this one. Anyone got a passenger channel before I start to
patch that too? Bottom and inner rotted away, outer's not too great either. Only top part looks solid.

FB channel - passenger's side - top part is best side! Not much inside, not much outside, and even less underneath.

Update - Little Ghia motor (original 1200 fitted to the car at birth) has been breathing real hard up these hills. I decided to save it from further
abuse and for flatter terrain in the future. This weekend I pulled a '67 1300 out and installed it into the Ghia. Anyone contemplating such an engine
change? Well I can vouch for the torque improvements. It makes driving much more pleasant in hilly terrain. It's still slow, but less "sweaty". I
haven't tested the full 6 extra bhp yet. Woohoo! Hopefully the Ghia will still return 40mpg on a long run over to Toowoomba. 93cc extra goes a long,
long way!
