1971 TLE Fuel Injected Fastback

Hi all,
New to the forum. Been looking for other FI owners to share some thoughts, parts and the like?
Have been on the The Samba forum since June and have been sourcing parts, knowledge and plenty of sleepless nights scouring the net and thought I would see if there are like minded owners closer to home.
I'll post some pics shortly as well of my latest project.
Cheers

I am mainly looking for like minded owners really. I have been sourcing parts from across the globe, mainly in the US. Some in Europe.

I also had a 1971 TLE 10 years ago which I re-acquired and stipped for parts. Have a basically new Carb engine and most of the parts for almost 2 cars but FI stuff is hard to find.

I might need an electric fuel pump, distributor for an FI engine amongst other things.

The car is kind of running but being very original, I want to keep it that way. No crack on the dash, very little to no rust and has been garaged all its life.

Photos to follow.

Nice. I noticed you have a late clock, but the other two gauges are early?
I have a few late ones here if you want to go back to original ;)

Thanks guys. I am a Type 3 tragic. Love all dubs, but nothing like a Type 3.

It does have the late clock and it doesn't work. But I have the old three from my previous 1971 TLE and also purchased a whole set of 1972 dials as well to restore. Don't mind the look of the darker background to be honest.

I just had more parts arrive today so will be busy over Christmas.

Welcome Fasty,
That is a nice Type 3.
And your right... Nothing like a Type 3!
Don't give Bert a too much credit, Paddy already makes the rest of us envious!

I've bought a set of 1972 German VDO Instruments which are Black faced, dished design and Chrome Ring .... Clock in and working, Speedo in and working - this is a KM speedo with trip meter Euro 100, fuel gauge needs some wiring sorted but essentially done.

Went this way as the Australian gauges I didn't like the black rim - will post some photos comparing the 2 once the project is completed.

You'd better add this little beauty to the Show Off Your Type 3 page.
