Wiring an alternator in a beetle

Does anyone have any wiring diagrams/tips on how you convert a regulator/dynamo over to an alternator/regulator?

Thanks

Steve

do you have an alternator with an internal or external regulator?

For the internal one it is easy.

Remove the generator and it's regulator along with the wiring in between. you should basically be left with a positive lead from the battery and a wire from the dash warning light. These wires are then the B+ and warning light wire on the alternator.

Steve,
For me the Electrics are easy peasy.
Can you fill me in on what is required to convert to Alternator?

What is the Donor Alt. from?
How do you drive the fan.................
I've never been in that far:(:(

Its a Bosch Alternator from a 75 model beetle that I've put in place of the original dynamo. It has a white connector on with three terminals and comes with an external regulator. I did have this wired up in a bug a long time ago, but now I'm putting the engine into a 71 Kombi that had a generator. I think Wes has jogged my memory by saying remove all the extra regulator wiring to leave two wires, as there are only two unconnected terminals left on the alternator/regulator.

I will pull all the bus stuff out and start from there.

Thanks

Steve
